Fair questions
What does a typical school actually pay?
A six-aircraft school pays for five ($75/month): the first aircraft is always free, and every student, instructor, and admin is included. Most competitors either charge more per aircraft, add a fee per active student, or won’t publish a price without a sales call. Ours is right here.
Why per aircraft and not per student?
Your costs shouldn’t climb because enrollment is going well. A fleet is a stable, honest measure of a school’s size, so that’s the only thing we count. Grow from ten students to fifty on the same three airplanes and your bill doesn’t move.
What does the payment fee come to?
On a plan, a student’s $200 online lesson payment costs the school $1 (0.5%), and even a $10,000 prepaid block is capped at $50. Free-tier schools pay 1%. Stripe’s standard processing applies either way (we add no markup on it), and payments you record by cash or check cost nothing, ever.
Do owners need their school to use Horizyn One?
No. Flight Tracking is independent: register your aircraft, and its ADS-B flight log builds whether or not the school logs anything. If the school does run on Horizyn One, you also get the automatic Hobbs-vs-tracked reconciliation.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Creating your school and running your first aircraft never asks for a card. When you add a second aircraft, start your 30-day free trial from Settings: that is the only place we collect a card for your school’s plan, and nothing is charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then from your billing portal and you pay nothing.
What happens when the trial ends?
The card on file is charged $15 per aircraft beyond your first, monthly (or $150 per aircraft per year if you chose annual), and you get subscriber payment pricing. If you cancel, your school stays on the free tier: first aircraft free, 1% on online payments, and every record stays put. A failed payment does not cut you off on the spot: you keep subscriber pricing for a two-week grace period to update your card, then it reverts the same way.
Is there a contract or setup fee?
No contracts, no setup fees, no per-seat pricing. The plan is month-to-month and cancelable in two clicks from your own billing portal (no 60-day-notice letters), and your records stay yours either way. Questions? support@horizynone.com.
